Preparing for steam release and game updates!

Hi everyone. Quick update. Ever since Potato Thriller has been greenlit, I have been working non stop on it, adding new features, extra content and really polishing it up. I am currently prepping the final game for steam release which is something I am very very excited about. There are still a couple of things I need to do and finalize before getting it up on steam but i'm getting there. I am currently working on the steam page as we speak. My goal is to have the game up on steam within the next couple days or hopefully sooner. The game is finished. I have all the final builds ready and everything is going very smoothly. I have a small announcement about the steam version of the game that I would like to share real quick before I get back to work. Also I have some updates for the original game.

Steam Version:
As a way of showing my thanks and gratitude for having my game get greenlit, I wanted to make the steam version a little special. The steam version of Potato Thriller will have exclusive new extra content that the original game is missing and it will be listed under a slightly different name. On Steam, the game will be called: "Potato Thriller Steamed Potato Edition" as opposed to just the original "Potato Thriller. It is the same game but with the exclusive extra steam content. Here are some screens from the steamed potato edition:

Game updates:
There have been a couple of annoying bugs I noticed and have been pointed out to me in the original game that I released over at itch.io such as the mouse staying on screen or moving out of the game window, etc. I have fixed all these bugs and polished it up. The game is now the most recent updated game that will be the steam version, just without the exclusive extra steam content. So if you were one of the early buyers or purchased the game through the itch.io game page site, please download the newest updated game to get the best experience.

Now on Gamejolt:
The Game is now also available on gamejolt.com which also includes the most recent up to date build of the game.

Get Potato Thriller From:
GameJolt
itch.io
Steam special edition (Coming Soon)

Thank you everyone once again so much for all the support and voting for my game to become available through steam. I am really excited and looking forward to releasing the steam edition in the next couple days. More updates soon.

That is Potato Man... Potato Thriller January Update

So many new features and changes in my upcoming game "Potato Thriller" yet so few updates here on the blog! As always, I will start today's blog post off the same way I usually tend to start off my blog posts and that is often by me apologizing for the lack of updates. Yes. Sorry about the lack of updates here on the blog. I am definitely not updating as often as I want to.

I have been working on my new game "Potato Thriller" almost on a daily basis in my free time whenever I get a chance to do so. It is getting kind of ridiculous. This originally started out as a small game back in October. The game has since of course became a lot bigger now with more levels, more features, and an actual storyline. I even recently added a simple auto save feature to the game because it would just be annoying to have the player restart all the way from the start each time they booted up the game. A save feature. It sounds like a feature that is just suppose to be in the game regardless. Like that is just a feature that you should always have in any game. The reason I am making it sound like a big deal is because like I said earlier, this game originally started out as a really simple, short, one level game that could be completed in maybe ten minuets or so. A save feature was never needed. Now since the game has grown to be much bigger it definitely is a necessary feature.

Anyway, I don't want to ramble too much in this blog post. This blog post is just a small update to let everyone know that I am still working on Potato Thriller. I wanted to do a vlog earlier but never got around to that. I seriously need to start doing more youtube updates. I want to. I will try to get a video update out later on.

Quick Rundown of things:
Potato Thriller has expanded so much since my last blog post. It will probably be my biggest game yet (in terms of size, amount of levels, etc) I have decided that I will post this up later on to Steam and try to get it greenlit. I will do this probably sometime before the end of this month. Hopefully sometime next week? That is the deadline I will try to shoot for. Still no exact estimated finish date for Potato Thriller as there is still so many other things I am currently adding to it and still want to add to it. There is a lot to this game. I don't want it to be just another unity first person game where you walk around with a flashlight and wait for a jumpscare to happen. Although the game seems like it is very weird (and it is turning out to be a very strange game) I am trying to do more with it.

That is Potato Man
The character in the screenshot posted above in this blog post is Potato man by the way. I never showed potato man before. Potato man is one of the main villains in Potato Thriller that you will encounter throughout  Potato Thriller.

There is nothing to see?
I have been posting about this game for a while now here on the blog. I have pages for it set up over at indiedb and gamejolt. I am now even saying that I want to put it up on steam later on. However, very little is known about this game. I have shared very little information. I only have a few screenshots up and about a 1 minuet trailer which also barley shows anything. I am trying to show as little as possible for this game. The current screenshots and trailer are really almost nothing from the actual game.

Thanks for reading. More updates coming soon.

Potato Thriller (P.T.) Trailer

Introducing P.T - "Potato Thriller". Here is the trailer for my upcoming Silent Hills P.T inspired horror game that I will be releasing sometime this month. The game is almost finished and I am really excited to get it out soon. The trailer shows almost nothing from the game. I don't want to ruin the surprises.

I will post updates in this post later on. Currently working on getting the game setup over at gamejolt.com and indiedb.com. More updates soon!

UPDATE: Game page added to IndieDB and GameJolt.

Post jam, behind the scenes look, what's next?

Hello everyone. Just want to post an update here on the blog about whats coming next now that the zelda jam is over with. Before I do, I just want to say that the FemaleLinkJam was a really awesome and fun competition to participate in, definitely my favorite gamejam I have participated in yet. My entry, "The Zelda Within" placed in 7th place. I wanna thank everyone who downloaded and played the game. If you enjoyed it or hated, thanks for trying it out. I know, it is a very strange game. But definitely had a ton of fun creating it.

Many indie devs participated in the jam and 20 fan made zelda games were entered! (19 not counting mine) There are some really good entries made by talented game developers and I highly encourage you to go check them out and give them a try. I played through some and really enjoyed seeing what others have made. So if you get a chance be sure to check out all the awesome entries over here at this link:

http://jams.gamejolt.io/femalelinkjam/games

Lots of really well made games on that list.

Behind the scenes look:
Originally I was planning on creating a "Making of" blog post for "The Zelda Within". Just kind of going over the process of what went into this month long game project. But then I decided, I am too lazy to type something like that up. Instead, here is a bunch of "dev" screenshots I took along the way while creating the game. These screens can give you some idea of how the game was made. Made with Unity 5 engine and Blender3D of course. Enjoy!

What's next?
The zelda jam was fun and I really enjoyed participating in it but now that it is finished I don't think I will be participating in anymore jams for a while. I want to get back on track and continue working on my own personal game projects for the time being. Actually, I already began working on my next game project shortly after submitting my entry for the zelda jam. I am working on a simple mobile game for Android which I plan on having out before the end of this month. Probably even sooner then the end of this month as the game is already about 70% complete. I will talk more about my upcoming game in the next blog post real soon.

That is it for now. Thanks for reading. And definitely check out some of the cool zelda entries up on GameJolt.com

Stay tuna!

Release: "The Zelda Within"

At the beginning of April I posted about a Zelda themed game jam which is being held over at GameJolt. I also said that I would be participating in the contest. After a month of development I have created a full out 3D horror/mystery/adventure game called "The Zelda Within". It has been an awesome and productive month! This turned out to be a big project to create in a month and today (May 1st, 2015) is the final day for the gamejam. Luckily, I managed to finish on time and release the game with just a few more hours to spare. Everyone, I give you:

Summery:

Join detective Lulu Pinkhair as you enter the strange twisted trippy dimension hidden in the mysterious motel known as "The Stock Pot Inn".  When Inn guests suddenly start disappearing, it's up to Lulu to uncover whats going on. Adventure through a mysterious non-sense world, encounter familiar characters and re-visit classic scenes in this adventure/horror/mystery thriller game!
"The Zelda Within" will leave you confused, cold, hungry and possibly rage quitting. Can you handle what lies within the "Inn"?

Screen Shots:

This jam was by far my favorite gamejam I have ever participated in and I had so much fun creating "The Zelda Within". I have made a lot of weird games in the past. But I think this project takes the "wtf is this?" title now.

This game is full of many game references not just from "The Legend Of Zelda" series, but other games as well. If you haven't guessed it from the game title, "The Zelda Within" is heavily inspired by the popular horror game "The Evil Within". This game is full of unexpected surprises....

Can you name all of the game references?

Zelda fans, The Evil Within fans and people who play video games in general, I hope you enjoy

That's all the news I have for now. Thanks for reading. 2015 is turning out to be an awesome year!

UPDATE: 5/2/2015 - The Zelda Within now for Windows and Mac!
