Introducing P.T - "Potato Thriller". Here is the trailer for my upcoming Silent Hills P.T inspired horror game that I will be releasing sometime this month. The game is almost finished and I am really excited to get it out soon. The trailer shows almost nothing from the game. I don't want to ruin the surprises.
I will post updates in this post later on. Currently working on getting the game setup over at gamejolt.com and indiedb.com. More updates soon!
Just wanted to post a quick update about this secret horror game project I have been putting together over the past couple weeks in my free time. In a previous blog post I said that I was pretty much working on P.T. Or at least my very own version of P.T. Like I said earlier, I have been a huge fan of the Silent Hills project ever since the P.T. demo came out and was really bummed when I heard that it got canceled. The P.T. demo was even removed from the PS store as many of you probably know. It has been some time since all of this has happened. By now i'm sure that a lot of people in the gaming world have probably even forgotton about the whole Silent Hills thing. P.T was such an impressive demo because it was something that really stood out from other modern day horror games. What I mean by that is, it was actually scary. I love horror games, but I haven't actually felt frightened by a horror game in a while. P.T was different. The atmosphere and everything was just so well done. The jump-scare got me more than once and it was just an actual awesome experience overall. I will talk more about this later on.
Staying on topic. I had so much inspiration from the P.T. demo. It was a simple first person game but so perfectly executed. I have been working on my own P.T. since October. It's kind of like a remake but definitely in my own way. It's also different in a lot of ways. But yes, this game I have been working on (on and off whenever I had a chance too) is very much influenced and inspired by the P.T demo. I am making this game in honor of the Silent Hills P.T demo.
I have gone through so many revisions for my own version of P.T (which I want to discuss later on maybe in a video?) But I am finally at a point in the games development where I feel satisfied with it, the game feels right, plays right and feels like P.T. This is also definitely an interesting game for me to make and different from the other games I created. I just wanted to say in todays blog post that I am almost finished and plan on releasing my new game very very soon. Probably within the next few days or so. :)
Other things...
Anyway, I wanna wrap things up for today. I will have more updates real soon. I said a while back in another post that I wanted to start doing video updates. Maybe I will get to this tomorrow. But I want to have a video up soon kind of discussing more about my P.T game, where this blog is going, where I am going with my indie games career (well hobby I guess, not really a career). I also want to start to get more into youtube. I don't just want to make indie games anymore. I want to expand. I kind of want to give this blog and my games a face, a more human side. I want to interact more through youtube and the blog. I want to update on a more daily basis. As I said, I plan on doing video updates over some stuff i'm working on, maybe do some tutorials for unity and blender3d, answer questions and even do a couple of my own lets play videos. Cover some other indie games other small time devs like me have made. I want to help out the indie scene more and be more active.
A lot of new things planned going into 2016. I'm very excited as always. Again I will cover this more in depth later on. I might have my first "real" youtube video out covering my P.T game and the future of all of this "Snowconesolid Productions" stuff. I want to thank all the readers and players out there who visit my blog and check out my stuff. It means a lot to me. As always, stay tuned. More updates coming real soon. Happy holidays everybody. Peace.
Im getting bored trying to make big complicated games with story lines and purpose. Yesterday, I decided to take break from that. Instead, I decided to create a really dumb pointless game. I wanted to create something short, simple and in only a couple hours. So I created "Slippery Ice Ball"
A game where you play as a slippery ice ball in an ice cave maze. Collect pears to survive. Don't hit the walls or else you will loose. Not sure why I created this. It kinda sucks actually. If you like a stressful challenge then this is the game for you.
Just as promised yesterday. My newest mobile game "Don't Explode"is now available on the Google Play Store!
Download it for free on your Android phone or tablet over here: "Don't Explode" Price: Free Platform(s): Android/Mobile Description: "Control a traveling bomb that can explode at any second. Pick up timers to stay alive. How far can you go before time runs out and you explode into a pile of flowers?" Screens:

It's been a fun month developing this on the weekends. Really proud of this release! I hope everyone enjoys it. Be sure to rate/comment. I would love to hear feedback from anyone who plays my new game! Whats next? Time to create more games of course! :) More soon! Happy Sunday!
What is this game?
"Beach Ball Shooter" is a really short and simple game about shooting beach balls and collecting rubber ducks!
Current Version: 1.0
-features 13 short mini levels!
Free!
Just like all my other games this one is also 100% free to play of course!

Developer Note:
After over a month of not being active on my blog I am back and with a new game release. Releasing this game is kind of a surprise to myself personally as I had other plans for it. This game might look a bit familiar to some of you who have been reading my blog.
Back in May I announced a new game project I was working on. Originally it was called "Escape Ocean Zero". I was constantly posting screenshots on my twitter and talking about it. I originally had different plans for the game and wanted it to be more of a mystery/adventure type game. As time went on I had become busy with other things and eventually ceased developing the game. I had left my blog without any updates for over a month and even left the game development scene for a while.
After a good break from developing games I am ready to once again jump back in and start creating my new ideas. I want to start focusing on my new ideas now but at the same time I didn't want all the work I put into "Escape Ocean Zero" to go to waste. So I decided to take a different direction with the project and soon it became this game, the one you see right now, "Beach Ball Shooter". Instead of creating this big game with a complex story I wanted to keep it short, simple, avoid creating a storyline and keep the gameplay constant throughout.
So for "Beach Ball Shooter", I created a number of really small and somewhat easy levels all that focus on the same simple goal, collect the rubber duck to complete the level. That's it. That is the whole game. As simple as this game is, I actually really enjoyed creating it. Creating such a simple game felt right. It has even changed me a little bit as a game developer and made me realize that games don't always need to be this crazy complex creation with big levels and storylines and cutscenes. They can be fun in their simplest form. I am starting to understand that less really can be more in some cases. So who knows, I might just take a similar approach with my future game projects from now on as well.
About Version 1.0:
Beach Ball Shooter Version 1.0 features 13 easy mini levels. I am releasing this as version 1.0 because I might just release updated versions of the game later on in the future with more levels. I created a ton of game props and assets for this project that I can easily reuse and I can easily create a lot more simple levels out of all the props/game assets I have already set up in the unity engine.
UPDATE: 8/20/2014
Beach Ball Shooter is now available on the Google Play Store for Android devices!
Recently I started playing around with Unity's built in Navigation/ NavMesh tools so that I could learn a little bit more about AI behaviors such as pathfinding and so on. I must say, I am in love with the built in navigation the game engine provides. Its very smart, easy to use and opens up a ton of different possibilities for what the game engine could be used for.
For those of you who don't know what I am talking about check out the Unity website over here. Pretty much you can bring your characters, enemies, whatever you want in the game to life using Unity's AI.
In very little time I built my own playable prototype using the navigation tools to create an enemy gameobject that follows the player around while at the same time avoiding obstacles such as walls. Its a very simple basic AI behavior but its very effective and of course much more advanced AI behaviors could be created.
So I am in love with this feature that the game engine provides. This is a very important feature for me and my games and probably most game developers out there. Creating good quality AI behaviors for my games characters and enemies has always been a bit of a challenge for me. AI in general is a subject of its own and could be very time consuming work. In my past games such as "Revolver Finger", "Forest Soup", "Hide-n-Seek Winter" and other game projects I could never quite create good quality AI behaviors. I managed to create my own AI behaviors for enemies and such in the past but they were never really good AI behaviors. For example, the enemies in my forest soup game and revolver finger game would follow you around but also they wouldn't avoid obstacles, they would go through walls, they would not follow the player around accurately and sometimes even float above the ground when they aren't suppose to. The AI would even break sometimes and behave weird. Getting to the point, the AI behaviors I created for my past games were very poor quality and not professional.
However, now that I have the power of Unity's built-in navigation tools I can create much more believable AI behaviors, much more smarter AI behaviors and much much better and more professional quality AI behaviors. I am sure this will have a really positive impact on my future game projects. So I just really want to thank the devs behind the Unity game engine for making this feature available to everyone.
The AI/navigation tools use to only be a feature available to pro licensed users. However, a few recent builds of unity 4.xx ago this feature became available to users using the free version of unity and that is just awesome. Those of you who have been using unity might of already known about this feature for a while now and I did to, but I just recently started using it and am really impressed by what it could do.
Anyway that's about it. Once again a big thanks to the people behind the Unity game engine for giving users another pro feature for free. If you haven't played around with the Navigation tools yet I highly encourage you to it is a lot of fun.
I know this post isn't really about my next game project but I will have news on that down the road so stay tuned. Thanks for reading.
Hello once again everyone. I have been posting a lot of news since I first released my latest game
"Hide-n-Seek Winter" a couple days ago (on March 6th). In my previous post I released a webplayer version of the game so that you could play it directly in your web browser. I decided to take my webplayer version further and make it available to play for free on other sites as well.
Three major third party sites for online web games. You could play it now by going to one of the above links. Or next time you visit one of those sites be sure to check out "Hide-n-Seek Winter", rate and comment what you thought about it.
For further info about the game check out its release page over here: Release page
Hey everybody. Four days ago (March 6th) I released my latest game "Hide-n-Seek Winter". A unique toon adventure game I created about a boy who ventures off to the world of infinite snow in search of his little sister who has been kidnapped by a demon known as "The King of Hide and Seek".
I released the game for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms. Today, "Hide-n-Seek Winter" is available for a fourth platform. I just released a webplayer version of the game. Now you can play "Hide-n-Seek Winter" directly in your web browser, no download required at all. This version of the game is the best because it plays in the same resolution for everyone which fixes a GUI problem that was in the standalone versions of the game.
Just like the Windows, Mac and Linux versions, this version is also 100% free to play, no ads or in game purchases or anything like that.
Anyway, I hope you check out my new game and give it a try. I would love to hear feedback on what you thought of it!
If you are looking for a downloadable version of the game for Windows, Mac or Linux platforms you can grab it here from the "Hide-n-Seek Winter" release page: Release Page
The release page has also been updated with this webplayer version of the game as well for future reference.
It's finally here everyone! After over three months of work I finally finished my newest game project, "Hide-n-Seek Winter". A unique toon/cel-shaded adventure, action, puzzle game that takes place in a world that never stops snowing. Today is a special release day because it is also my 21st birthday (woooooo!).
I started this project almost immediately after I released "Forest Soup" (my short Halloween game release of 2013) and since then I have been posting updates about it. I had originally planned on finishing and releasing this game before the end of 2013 but then I started to make many changes to the game as I developed it and that led it to take even longer to make. If you have seen my very early updates of this game you can see the difference. I have scrapped levels, re-textured all of my game models and just changed a lot of things. It was frustrating at times but for the most part it was a smooth development process. Out of all my games so far, I have to say that this one was my biggest and most serious one yet. It was definitely a challenge to create this one especially since I created all the assets from scratch, but its finally complete. I am very proud of this specific game project. I believe that this is a major step up compared to my other games and is my most polished game yet. Gameplay mechanics, graphics and overall gamedesign have all improved with this game project. It took a lot of hard work and time to create this but it was well worth it and I feel like I have become a better game developer for it. This is my first game release of 2014 and I can't wait to start working on my next game projects! Ok that's enough bragging for now. Lets just get to the game! :)
To get you a bit more interested in this game if your not already here is the newest trailer I created for it. Enjoy! Download links to game down below.
Hide-n-Seek Winter Release Trailer:
Story: (for those of you who want to know what this game is even about)
After playing a game of hide and seek, little sister Frosty compliments
her big brother Choco by telling him that he is the greatest hide and
seek player ever. After saying this, the "Hiding Demon" suddenly appears
and refuses to believe that choco is the greatest hide and seek player
ever. The hiding demon then kidnaps Choco's little sister and
disappears. The hiding demon tells Choco to meet him at the frozen pond
in the "Infinite Snow World", a strange alternate dimension world where
it snows forever. In order for Choco to rescue his little sister, he
must defeat the hiding demon in a game of hide and seek. Q&A:
-Is it Free?
Of course it is silly! Like all my previous games, this game, "Hide-n-Seek Winter" is 100% free to download and play. No ads, no in game purchases or anything. Just my awsome toon game :) -What can I play your game on?
The game is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms. (It may become available for other platforms such as webplayer and android devices if I decide to port it sometime. I will most likely release a webplayer later on for sure though. As for android, I am interested in porting to that device. If I see enough people are interested in it then I will probably also port it to android to)
-I encountered a problem or found a bug in your game while playing
No matter how polished a game is a bug is bound to pop up somewhere. Even though I tested this game many times with no problem you might run into a bug on rare occasions. If you do please let me know. Leave a comment or send me a message telling me about it so I can work on patching it up.

Wow, I can't believe we are already in March! Sorry for the lack of updates here. There was nothing really else for me to show, or I guess I didn't really want to show any more screens or anything because I have been spending the rest of time since my last post finishing up the game, adding a little extra polish, working out some features I forgot to add like a save system, etc.
So I haven't updated in a couple days but I have been working on it non-stop. Or whenever I had a chance to.
As you might know from my previous updates, I originally planned on releasing this game early February and then that eventually led to releasing it at the end of February, and I promised to release it before the end of February. But as usual, things never go as planned. I had run into some issues, I needed to add some extra features and I needed to work on the final game. Also, I haven't had as much free time to work on this project for the past couple days because of life and other non game dev stuff. So I decided I needed a little extra time, just a little, to really finalize my game because there is no point in releasing a broken or unfinished game right?
Anyway, I have good news. Finally, after taking the extra time I needed, I finally finished the game. It feels great! This has been probably my biggest and most serious game project yet and I ran into a lot of frustration while building it, for the most part it was smooth though. But finally, its done and I feel really good about it.
you see? Preparing the final builds as we speak. :)
So its done, when are you going to release it? Actually in a couple of hours. I will release the game March 6th (Tomorrow) sometime in the afternoon or so. Like my previous projects, I am releasing this 100% free. It will be available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Why don't you just release it now if its done?
I'm going to do some final test to make sure everything is working right, (even though I know it is since I tested so many times in frustration) but I have to double check. Also, the main reason I decided to release it tomorrow is because tomorrow is also my birthday (going to be 21, starting to feel old mold). So I want to give you guys a present on my birthday. :)
Ok thats all I have for now. I am really excited and looking forward to finally releasing my new toon game. I will probably post a couple of updates frequently with other stuff up until I release it tomorrow. So stay tuned!
(In case you are wondering, yes this is the update I just posted in my works in progress thread on the unity forums here: Link) So I copied and pasted my own update. But this is an important update for my game so I decided to post here on the blog as well.
I am really looking forward to releasing my game tomorrow! see you soon!
Hello again! Hope everybody had a great Halloween last night.
So yesterday was my big release day for my latest horror game project "Forest Soup" and everything was going good until people actually played the game. It turns out that there was a very annoying bug that made the players constantly trip and fall on their faces over and over again. This made the entire game nearly unplayable and also very un-enjoyable.
The tripping is something that I actually left in the game purposefully at first because I thought it would be funny to have the player trip and fall down randomly every once in a while when they played through the game. And when I was testing the game the character did not trip as frequently as he did in the final game. He would trip occasionally every once in a while. In the final game however it seems like there was a bug that was triggering the player to trip all the time and this made the game very annoying and just not playable.
So anyway, I am here to fix that issue. The tripping was my fault and I would of left it out of the game if I knew it was going to cause all these issues.
After getting feedback and learning what a pain this bug was I went back in and fixed it and now there is no more tripping. So everyone I bring you Forest Soup Version 2 which is 100% tripping free. So if you have already downloaded the game and tried playing it and experienced this issue I hope you give my game another chance and try out the improved version. :)
BugFixes Include:
+No more tripping/ falling on your face bug!
+New improved camera for skydiving level so its easier to see whats below you and where to go.
Once again sorry for the bugs in the previous release and I hope you find this new fixed version to be more enjoyable. Thank you for your time.
It's finally time everybody! Just as I promised a couple hours ago in my previous blog post. "Forest Soup" is now out and available for all to play just in time for Halloween! Download links are below. The game is 100% free and available for Windows pc, MAC and Linux users. Hope you enjoy my latest game and have a Happy Halloween!
Now go download and play my game! :)
Download Instructions:
1.) Click the download link that is for your platform (windows, Mac, linux)
2.) Save the .Rar file and let download.
3.) Once finished downloading extracting the .Rar and play game
UPDATE 11/1/2013: Old download links removed. Game has recently updated. Please go here to download Forest Soup Version 2.0. The new version includes major bug fixes which makes the game playable again. Thank you. Forest Soup - Version 2.0 Download page
Note:
I have not tested the Mac or Linux versions of the game so I am unaware of how those will run. If you run into any problems with those versions please let me know. I only say this because once again I never tested those versions but they should run just fine and have no problems. But yeah let me know of any issues encountered just in case.
Game Summery:
"Forest Soup" is a horror game about a boy named Oliver OliveTree and
his magical flying pet creature named Fogo. Oliver and Fogo become
hungry as the day nears its end. The two characters decide to make
forest soup for dinner, a legendary soup that has a taste that is out of
this world. The two eventually realize that they do not have the
ingredients to make this soup. Fogo tells Oliver that all the
ingredients can be found at a place called "Black Cloud Island". Fogo
takes Oliver to the entrance of the island where the game begins. Take
the role of Oliver OliveTree and skydive down below to this mysterious
place called "Black Cloud Island" in search of the ingredients for the
so called Forest Soup.
Once again sorry for the lack of posts here on my blog. If you are on the unity forums and have been watching my work in progress thread over here Link you may have seen my smaller updates for the game. A couple hours ago I posted this screenshot of me building the final game.
Yep. Finally I finished creating my short horror game called "Forest Soup" after working on it all throughout October. I never really said or showed much about the game at all during the time I was developing it but I must say it turned out to be my best game project ever! (I say that about all of my newest games)
Really though. I think you will really enjoy this one. It is really weird and crazy. The goal of this game is to find all of the ingredients needed to make the legendary forest soup. The ingredients can only be found in a place called "Black Cloud Island". Which is a very strange and dangerous place with weird happenings. Armed with only your shotgun, you must dive down and hunt for these ingredients.
I will be releasing the game in a couple hours. Maybe around noon today. In the meantime enjoy these screenshots and the newest trailer!
Check back real soon to get the game! It will be up just in time for Halloween!
Hello again everyone.
11 days ago I announced that I put my horror game project "Almond-Hill : Silent Meow" on hold so that I can begin working on my new short horror game project for Halloween. Since that last post I have vanished from my blog and even the Unity forums. On that day I began working on my new short horror game project right away. 11 days later I have made amazing progress and have already done so much for my new short horror project. It was hard for me to stay away from my blog and not reveal anything about the game at all. So it feels like I have been working on this short horror game project in secret.
However, today is the day I finally reveal my short game project and discuss the details. I even already created a short teaser trailer for the game.
So lets just start with the trailer have a look for yourself.
My new short horror game is called "Forest Soup" as you can see by the above image. I plan on having it fully complete and released by the end of this month just in time for Halloween. It will be released for PC/Linux and Mac completely for free.
The storyline I came up with is simple and kind of silly but it works for me.
Story: "Forest Soup" is a game about this boy named Oliver OliveTree and his magical flying pet creature named Fogo. Oliver and Fogo become hungry as the day nears its end. The two characters decide to make forest soup for dinner, a legendary soup that has a taste that is out of this world. The two eventually realize that they do not have the ingredients to make this soup. Fogo tells Oliver that all the ingredients can be found at a place called "Black Cloud Island". Fogo takes Oliver to the entrance of the island where the game begins. Take the role of Oliver OliveTree and skydive down below to this mysterious place called "Black Cloud Island" in search of the ingredients for the so called Forest Soup.
I know what your thinking but yes this game is a horror game despite its storyline. :)
I was somewhat inspired by The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword to create this game (A personal favorite wii game of mine and im sure a lot of other people to).
Characters:
Oliver OliveTree: The main character for the game. He can skydive and even poses a unique inflatable hat!
Fogo: Oliver's magical flying creature that lives above the clouds. Fogo is a unique creature that cannot travel below the clouds because his magic flying ability is powered by clouds. If he goes below the clouds he will crash down below.
Like my Almond-Hill Silent Meow project, I am developing this game with Unity Playmaker. And Like all my previous games I am working on this project solo.
My goal with this short game project is the same as my goal with my
Almond-Hill project. That is, create a unique horror game that is not
just another slenderman game. This game will be truly unique.
Feels good to finally show what I was working on since the first day of October. I can't wait until I finish it and have it out. Once again the game will be fully complete and released for free by the end of this month so stay tuned.
