Something New!

Hello everyone, it is update time. I recently had an idea for a new game project and have already began to work on it. It is not related to Samer Hills, but is something entirely new. I mentioned last month that I was going to be taking a break from that (Samer Hills) project for a while. I also mentioned that I might even have a different new game out before I release Samer Hills. Judging by how things are going, I will most likely stick to what I said and have a new game out. Truth is, ever since I created a early demo build of Samer Hills and posted the campaign to Steam GreenLight, I have not worked on it at all. Not since that time at least. Not really sure when I will go back to that project, but it might not be for a while. I wanna work on my other ideas right now.

Here is some early wip screens of something new I am working on. Nothing crazy going on. Just screens of house room type scene.

The game will feature Virtual Snowconesolid (My new persona gimmick I'm going with).

As for Samer Hills, I might revisit it in the future, maybe even completely re-work it as a completely different project from what I had originally planned. Looking forward to sharing more on all my projects!

Honestly, one of my big goals is to make many games. I don't just want to stick to one big project or become known for one thing. Like just the guy who made Potato Thriller for example. No. I want to make lots and lots and lots of games! I want to keep creating forever!

New GAMES and content coming soon. I PROMISE!

Punished Ponytail...

So I posted this "box art" for my new upcoming game "Samer Hills" on my twitter about a day ago. Does it look familiar to anyone? This boxart shows "Punished Ponytail".... "Woooooahhh hooooooooo!!!! Wooaaaah hooooooo-oooooooo words that kill!!!"

In case you haven't figured it out yet, clearly this is a reference to Metal Gear Solid V. I have stated this before on the blog many times, but I am a huge MGS fan and a huge fan of Hideo Kojima and his work. He is one of my favorite game designers of all time.

As you can see, I shamelessly copied used inspiration from the Metal Gear Solid V box art to make mine. I originally did this as a joke but then I really liked how my box art actually turned out. So there it is. A harmless parody box art of the original MGSV box. Hideo Kojima is actually a huge role model for me as a game designer and one of the reasons I am so into game development. I often use inspirations from his works in my own work and that can be seen in my projects. My previous game "Potato Thriller" was heavily inspired by his Silent Hills/PT demo. Actually, Potato Thriller was essentially a parody game of PT but at the same time didn't really have anything to do with PT and stood out as its own game if that makes any sense.

With all that said however, I would just like to clear a couple things up for "Samer Hills". Just because I made a parody box art of the MGSV box art does not mean that the game itself will be a parody of Metal Gear Solid V. Again, this box art was just done jokingly and for fun. "Samer Hills" will be nothing like MGSV and it will not be a parody game of MGSV. I am trying to create a very "Samer Khatib" original horror game experience.

This game is going to be very different than any other game I have ever made so far. This time I am extremely focused on the overall quality of the entire game. Every area such as graphics, mechanics, etc will be a huge step up for me. Polish is very important because I want to really deliver a good quality game and I am very excited to hopefully share the game with everyone soon in the future. More updates coming soon.

Preview: 3D Jack-O-Lantern app (100th post!)

Hey everyone. Today I want to showcase a little bit of what I have been working on this past week. This is going to be my first Non-game app (yesterday I wrote a blog post discussing that I would be focusing on creating some non-game apps)

Anyway I have been posting some screenshots on my twitter about this lately over the past couple days. For the Halloween spirit,  I decided to create a 3D Jack-O-Lantern app. I started it over the weekend and have been developing it bit by bit. I plan on finishing it up and releasing it before the end of this week so very soon.

It will be a very simple 3d interactive novelty/toy type app that gives users their own jack-o-lantern in a nice 3d scene.

(In Blender3d, model with two different textures, light and normal)

(In Unity3D engine with bumped Spec Shader)

The app will include various small features that users can tweak and interact with. I am still working on implementing them at the moment but overall I am almost finished with it.

For now you can check out the beta web player build here: 3D Jack-O-Lantern Beta Build Demo

There is a lot of other features I have already implemented but did not include in the beta webplayer build. So expect more in the final version.

My goal with this app is to focus on creating a very well polished high quality interactive 3d scene. So focusing on high quality graphics and high quality 3d models is very important this time around. I want to deliver something that is visually appealing and is nice to look at.

That is all for now. As I mentioned earlier, I plan on finishing this app and making it available on the Google Play Store for android users by the end of this week. I look forward to it and am having fun creating this 3d jackolantern!

Thanks for reading. More soon.

Off topic: Wow this is my 100th blog post here on blogger! Its been crazy. I have a lot more posts and am here to stay for a long time.
