Announcing "Giraffe Town"

A NEW GAME!?! YES!
Check out the official Steam page here:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/941480/Giraffe_Town/

Hello everyone! I'm back! It's me! Your friendly neighborhood "Samer-Man" (nobody calls me that) aka snowconesolid aka the greatest indie game developer of all time and space! (Everybody calls me that.)

I know. I know. I have been away for a very long time. Away from the indie game dev scene, away from Twitter, away from this blog, away from existence and so on. I just suddenly vanished one day and I am sure many of you thought that I gave up on making games, or I died from a coffee overdose or I died from mountain climbing or I died from all the other possible ways of dying. And I am sure everyone missed me and people would say stuff like: "Man, I wonder whatever happened to that one game developer?" and then your friends would say: "Who are you talking about? What game developer?" and then you would say: "You know, that one awesome game developer. The one who makes all those awesome games." and then your friend would say: "I'm not sure I really follow. Who exactly are you talking about?" and then you would say: "I'm talking about Samer Khatib! Aka Snowconesolid! Aka the greatest game developer of all time and space!" And then your friend would say: "I still have no idea who that is. But I love that guy and his games so much!" and then you would all laugh and feel nostalgic and it would be a good time. I'm sure this has happened. I was missed. My presence was missed. Then out of nowhere... Wait! Who is that mysterious figure walking out from the shadows!? Could it be!? IT'S SAMER! HE'S BACK! I suddenly show up. And I say: "It's okay. No more tears. I have a new game!" Then, a burst of loud cheering of happiness and excitement begins to echo around the world as everyone anticipates the launch of a new Samer Khatib game!

This post is just supposed to be me briefly announcing my new game... I think I went a bit off the rails there. Anyway, yes. Today is a very special day. I am back and I am super excited to be announcing my newest game... *Drum roll*

"A giraffe born with slippery feet sets out to find love..."

Coming soon to Steam.
Please visit the official Steam page to see the trailer, screenshots, and more information about the game here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/941480/Giraffe_Town/

Don't forget to add the game to your wishlist, follow it and tell all your friends and family about it! More information about the game will follow later on in future posts. So be sure to check back here, or the official Steam page and follow me on Twitter here for more updates about my new game.

Once again, I am extremely excited to finally reveal, share and announce my newest game today. It is a project that I have been working on in silence for nearly 2 years. It is also my next game release since Potato Thriller which, was also originally released about 2 years ago as of this writing. This project also marks my second ever game release on Steam which is a huge milestone and accomplishment for me personally. I am very proud of my work and I can't wait to see what you guys think of it.

Thank you, everyone, so much for stopping by, checking out the Steam page and for your support which has kept me motivated throughout the years!

I look forward to releasing Giraffe Town very soon as well as continue making games for many many years to come!

Ready for 2018!

Happy New Year everyone! I wanted to do a quick blog update to talk about some plans I have for the year as well as show that I am still very much active as an independent game developer. And putting out the first blog post of 2018 is the best way to do that! Before I get into the actual update, I just want to say that doing this blog over the years and seeing how much I have evolved as a developer is something that I am personally very proud of. When I said first blog post of 2018, it dawned on me that I started this whole adventure into game design, 3d modeling, animation, keeping a dev blog, etc back years ago. About late 2010-ish. It's crazy to think about how time just flew by. I certainly didn't know if I would still even be doing this after all these years. But i'm still here. I'm still doing what I love doing and still following my dream. It's an amazing feeling and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I would also like to thank all of you who have joined me on this journey and followed my work, visited this blog or checked out some of my games. You all keep me motivated to keep going and I appreciate it so much. From encouraging comments to harsh critiques or just reaching out and saying hello. It all means the world to me. So thank you everyone. You are all awesome.

I have a lot planned for this year and a lot that I want to get done. I didn't release any new games in 2017 but that is because I have been working hard on multiple new game projects. I said this in my last blog post - Not one new game, but many new games.

Putting out lots of new games. That is exactly the plan. I am very excited for 2018, this will be a big one for me personally and I really do have several new games in the works for this year as well as a ton of other ideas that I would like to develop. If you are interested in getting a small glimpse of whats to come, check out my last blog post for more information as well as a ton of screenshots from many of my new and upcoming games.

Other then that, I really don't have much to say at this time. Just a quick recap of what I said in the previous post. Mostly, I just wanted to show a sign of life on the blog because I know sometimes there is a long time gap between blog updates and it could sometimes seem like I have abandoned game development. However, that's not the case at all. I'm still here and i'm just getting started.
I look forward to sharing updates and many new game releases down the road. There is a lot more to come. I wish you all an awesome 2018!

Something New!

Hello everyone, it is update time. I recently had an idea for a new game project and have already began to work on it. It is not related to Samer Hills, but is something entirely new. I mentioned last month that I was going to be taking a break from that (Samer Hills) project for a while. I also mentioned that I might even have a different new game out before I release Samer Hills. Judging by how things are going, I will most likely stick to what I said and have a new game out. Truth is, ever since I created a early demo build of Samer Hills and posted the campaign to Steam GreenLight, I have not worked on it at all. Not since that time at least. Not really sure when I will go back to that project, but it might not be for a while. I wanna work on my other ideas right now.

Here is some early wip screens of something new I am working on. Nothing crazy going on. Just screens of house room type scene.

The game will feature Virtual Snowconesolid (My new persona gimmick I'm going with).

As for Samer Hills, I might revisit it in the future, maybe even completely re-work it as a completely different project from what I had originally planned. Looking forward to sharing more on all my projects!

Honestly, one of my big goals is to make many games. I don't just want to stick to one big project or become known for one thing. Like just the guy who made Potato Thriller for example. No. I want to make lots and lots and lots of games! I want to keep creating forever!

New GAMES and content coming soon. I PROMISE!

Sneaking around hamburgers prototype demo

Just uploaded a video showing off a quick prototype demo I created in the unity game engine. The demo shows my donkey character sneaking around large hamburgers from a third person perspective. Nothing really crazy or anything. Nothing in this video is final. This level/part of the demo won't even be in the final game if I decide to make a full game (which I probably will)

This is just a quick random little prototype that I put together while messing around in the unity engine. Thought I might as well record some of it and show it off in action. Also, here are some new screenshots I took while developing this. Just like what is shown in the video, these screen shots are only screen shots from the prototype demo.

Honestly, I have no idea what I am even trying to create here but, I like it so far!
More updates soon.

Potato Thriller Final Trailer

Hey everyone.  First of all, I wanna say thanks to all those who voted for "Potato Thriller" on steam so far. Thank you all for your support.

The trailer I had up on the potato thriller STEAM  page is pretty outdated. I made that trailer when the game was still early in development. Now that so much as changed and so many new things have been added to the game I thought it would be a good idea to create an updated game trailer to give a little preview of what can be expected in the final game.

Here is the newest and final trailer for "Potato Thriller" Enjoy!

If you are interested in silly horror games and want to see this game become available on STEAM then please go hit that YES button and help it get the GREENLIGHT over here:

Thanks once again for the support everyone. More updates coming soon.

Heres that YouTube update I promised :)

I have been working hard over the past couple days cleaning up my YouTube channel. Getting it more organized and making it look cool. I updated almost everything on my channel and am happy with how much I have changed with it.

My new YouTube icon I designed:

"You see this? Diamond Dogs... Our new home..." -MGSV

Randomly decided to make a Metal Gear Solid V reference just now for some reason. But that is how I felt when I was re-designing my YouTube stuff, getting it more organized and to look more like how I want it to look. Its a great feeling actually. :D

And the my new YouTube Banner. I think I spent too much time working on this one. But very happy with the results.

Check out and Subscribe to my updated fancy pants YouTube channel today!

It's a really exciting time and I am really happy. I really look forward to sharing my YouTube adventures and posting a bunch of new content. I have so much planned. More videos and blog updates will be coming soon. More information and a trailer for my new horror game coming up later in the coming days.  Thank you everybody once again for staying with me and checking out all my stuff over the past couple years. It means so much to me. I really enjoy creating and sharing new content with everyone. :)

More updates coming soon! Thanks for reading.

My next game: "Don't Explode"

At the beginning of the month (March) I announced that I have plans to develop a number of small mini games for mobile platforms. My previous post "Snowconesolid Minis" explains these plans. Also I mentioned that I have been working on a new small game for Android platforms. I posted a couple of  early dev screens but never really went into detail. I have been posting to twitter daily as I developed this as well but once again never really explained much about the game. Today I would like to finally share info about the game.

As you can tell by the title of this post and the image above, the name of my next game is:

"Don't Explode"

An endless game about controlling a traveling bomb that can explode at any second. The goal of the game is about how far you can go and how long you can survive before time runs out.

Screenshots:

Platforms: Android

Release Date: 3/29/2015
(Just as promised earlier, I did say I was going to have a new release by the end of this month) :)

That's about all I have for now. My new game is finished and will be available tomorrow for free to download off the Google Play Store. So I will definitely be posting updates here on the blog tomorrow as well. "Don't Explode" will be my first release of 2015 and I am very excited to get it out there for everyone to play. Thanks for reading and more updates coming soon!

2015 gamedev plans. The Next generation of Snowconesolid Games

Here I am again. I know I haven't been updating the blog as much as I said would. I have not been as active on the unity community forums either. But i'm still here. It's 2015 and "Snowconesolid Productions" is still around. I am still here. Still developing games. Still creating whatever I imagine. Sharing ideas, artwork and interactive experiences through my creations. Still a huge fan of Blender3d and the Unity game engine.

"Snowconesolid Productions" is definitely no triple-A game development studio. Non of my games so far have received millions of downloads/plays and I am sure that not a lot of people have even heard of  this development blog.

What is "Snowconesolid Productions" ? Snowconesolid Productions is a indie game studio run by a solo optimistic game developer who is passionate about creating not just games but experiences, artwork and memories. A indie developer who is not afraid of putting up his creations no matter what the feedback is. "Loved it", "hated it", "worst thing I ever played", etc. Comments/ critiques, etc. Any feedback is always welcome and accepted. A indie developer who loves to continue learning and improving his development and artwork skills.  I am Snowconesolid. This is what I love doing. This is my true passion.

I still find it hard to believe how fast time fly's by. I started learning game development and the other areas of the pipeline such as 3d modeling, animation, etc back in 2010. It's 2015 now and I have learned so much throughout these years. I have come so far in my indie development journey. Looking back at my first couple games and my first 3d models and comparing them to what I can do now really shows that I love learning and improving my skills. My dedication to creating. There is a huge difference in the quality I can deliver now in both game design and art compared to what I could do when  I first started.

For example, comparing two of my games:

"MoonLight Mountains : First Discovery" (A game I created and released in 2012. Something I made that was more experimental. A project I created when I was still learning game dev.)

with something like

"Hide-n-Seek Winter" (Created and released in 2014. One of my newer more polished games ever created.)

These two titles are night and day different from each other in every area. The game design, the gameplay mechanics, 3d models, animations, etc. There is a huge difference in quality that is clearly visible between the two games. And for both of these titles, I created everything from scratch on my own. Every art asset, all the logic behind the game and so on. If anyone compares the two they probably would not think the same developer created both of these.

That's what being a good developer is all about right? Learning from previous projects and experience, improving your skills, listening to what others have to say about your work, constantly training and improving your knowledge daily.

I love creating games. I love 3d modeling. I love animating, I love programming. I love creating storylines and characters,  I love being a indie developer.  It is 2015 and Snowconesolid productions is still going strong. My journey as a indie game developer will never cease as long as I can continue to create.

2015 Plans:

Now that I have the long "New Year" blog intro out of the way I can share my plans and goals for this year.

New Games!
This year I just have so many new original ideas planned out. Currently I am actively developing my next game. Actually, I have been developing my newest game for about two weeks now. It is still very early in development. Down below I have some screenshots to share and more info about my next game.

Old Games brought back to life!
Yup!. So also, I plan on rebooting some of my older games. Revisiting some of my first original game releases and re-creating them from scratch. Taking my original ideas for those games I made when I was still a beginner game maker learning how to make games and using my current skill set I have today to re-create them to be how I originally wanted to make them in the first place. This is something I am really looking forward to. I have been wanting to re-visit some of my older games for a while now and see how I would approach them differently now because I am a completely different developer today compared to when I first created these games years ago. It will be a really interesting challenge for me that will really test my skills.

The new games?
While I look forward to re-visiting my older game projects and giving them a reboot... this is something I plan on doing later on. I am not focused on rebooting my older titles at the moment. When the time comes I will talk more about re-creating my older games later on. For now I rather focus on creating my new game ideas. I want to deliver new experiences. And as I mentioned above, I have been working on my next game already for a while. I rather create something new first and then consider rebooting older titles.

So anyway, here is little early preview of my next game project. (Screen Shots not final):

Early preview of "James" in Blender3D. My newest original character who will star in my next game:

In unity. Setup. Early testing, etc:

Early preview screen of what the final game will look something like. Rendered in Unity. Actual in-game screen shot:

Once again these are still early development screenshots from my new game and nothing is final yet. I am sure I will be changing a lot down the road as I continue to develop this game. Also if you follow me on twitter you may have seen me post these screenshots earlier.

Game Info?
At the moment I don't have very much to explain about the game because I am still planning it out myself (especially the storyline) as I work through it but here is a general description for it:

"Jelly Space" project (Working title) will be a 3D immersive third person stylized level based puzzle/survival/adventure game. The game storyline follows "James" (our main character) as he journeys through a surreal space world, trying to find his way back home after an unexpected accident.

Lost in space and low on fuel, players will be placed in Jame's boots and must overcome unusual obsticals and strange encounters as they try to survive this harsh journey back home.

Platforms:
This game will be both for pc and mobile platforms.
I plan on releasing this game for Windows, Mac and Android platforms.

This will be my first game release of 2015 and I am very excited to continue sharing progress on the project down the road. I will have more info later on in upcoming blog posts.

Who is working on this project?
As always, I am going to be 100% responsible for this game project. Just like all my other games up until now, I will be developing this solo. I will be responsible for creating all of the 3d models/ art assets, game design, mechanics, storyline, etc from scratch. Whenever I work on my own game projects I like to take full responsibility for them. I like being able to say "I created everything in this game on my own" no matter how it turns out. It is a really rewarding feeling and achievement and a personal development style for myself.

What happened to Jelly Stack?
You might remember that in my last blog post (the last blog post I made in 2014) I mentioned that I was working on a quick short one week project called "Jelly Stack". I even said I would have it finished and released before the end of the 2014 year. Unfortunately this never happened. Plans have changed and as I thought about it I realized this is not the kind of game I want to create. Stacking a pile of randomly falling jelly blobs seemed like a boring idea to me later on. It seemed like something that has been done too many times before. I don't want to create clones of games like this. I want to create new and original games with more meaning and storytelling. Anyway one thing lead to another and then I ended up creating this character:

Jelly Guy:

Then this character ended up leading me to start creating my current game project I was just talking about above ("Jelly Space"). So actually, my upcoming game is all branched off my original simple idea for "Jelly Stack". It's amazing how one thing usually leads to something completely different. Who knows what else will change down the road as I continue creating "Jelly Space"? We will see...

2015 Conclusion?
My main focus this year and with all my upcoming game projects is about quality. This is something I will really stress as I develop my newest games. I want to prove that I can produce high quality games on my own with all the skills I have gained throughout my  past experience. Lots of focus will be put into every area of the pipeline (great quality graphics, fun gameplay mechanics and so on)

2015 is going to be an awesome year. I have so many new games planned that I want to create this year. It might be a little soon to say this but I'm going to go ahead and say it anyway because of how confident I am.

Personally, I think that this year, 2015 will be my best year ever as a indie game developer. I strongly believe that I will create some of my best and most memorable game experiences ever this year and I am just so excited to get the ball rolling. This year will be my year to really prove and show just how far I have come in this indie game development journey of mine. Using all the knowledge and experience I gained throughout the years, 2015 will show the kind of quality games I can truly produce.

This is definitely an exciting time for me. For "Snowconesolid Productions". It will be my biggest year yet for sure and I plan on delivering top quality professionally polished game releases. I hope to create interactive experiences that everyone will enjoy playing. Experiences that will really be memorable.

Thanks for reading and once again I am extremely excited to start creating my newest game titles for the 2015 year. I am looking forward to sharing progress as I develop my new games here on the blog. So stay tuned for a lot more updates down the road!

Bag Face

So, I'm working on a new game idea I had. Its kind of random but I am working on making it a real thing. I will talk more about it later on. For now check out "Bag Face", my latest original character. Bag Face is a character who works in a grocery store and wears a paper bag over his head all year round.

Bag Face:

Just recently finished creating this guy in Blender3D. Low poly (6656 tris) game ready model. Fully rigged and currently created 3 animations for him (idle, walk, run). Already have him setup in the unity game engine.

I love creating a bunch of different characters from scratch. This guy in particular was a really fun character for me to create.

Before I modeled him in Blender and created a full 3d working game character model I decided to do a quick concept sketch on paper. (Originally I called him "Bagboy")

Don't mind the weird dancing apple robot on the far left. Also I had to cut out some other things on the picture because there was several other characters I drew on there but are for different game ideas I want to work on.

Going to model that little duck-like character standing next to bag face next. That duck will also be a character in my next game project.

More updates real soon!

What I have been working on (Announcing my next game project!)

Sorry for the lack of updates. I know it has been a couple weeks since my last post. Of course while I was away from the blog I have been working on something new. My next game project actually. If you follow my twitter you may have seen me post various screenshot over the past couple days.

I'm just going to get into it right away. I would like to announce "Escape Ocean Zero"

Or at least that is what I call my new game project. Who knows I might change the name later down the road. Anyway the title is not important right now.

It is still very early in development so I won't get into too much details about the project right now (I don't have very much to show anyway) so I will save that for a later post.

I did however already create and animate the main character and even built a small simple prototype that you could play right now in your web browser (Its nothing fancy though.)

Play it here (Link)

So, in this game you run around and shoot stuff with your beach ball cannon. (A gun that shoots out beach balls) Off topic: I do believe that my game will be the first game ever to feature such a type of weapon.

The Beach Ball Cannon: A toy looking gun that fires beach balls...

You play as "Beach ball shooter", the main character of my next game. I actually created this guy a little over a week ago.

Anyway, going to leave off with this and keep the post short. I will have a lot more updates and info on my next project down the road. I am looking forward to showing off some of the actual levels and other characters, etc later on so stay tuned!

I do plan on rapidly developing this game and finishing it fast (maybe like a one month time frame or so). Of course I am also going to really polish it up as well. I already think this might be my best looking game so far (graphically)

Summer is coming up and I think my new project is perfect for it.
