Ready for 2018!

Happy New Year everyone! I wanted to do a quick blog update to talk about some plans I have for the year as well as show that I am still very much active as an independent game developer. And putting out the first blog post of 2018 is the best way to do that! Before I get into the actual update, I just want to say that doing this blog over the years and seeing how much I have evolved as a developer is something that I am personally very proud of. When I said first blog post of 2018, it dawned on me that I started this whole adventure into game design, 3d modeling, animation, keeping a dev blog, etc back years ago. About late 2010-ish. It's crazy to think about how time just flew by. I certainly didn't know if I would still even be doing this after all these years. But i'm still here. I'm still doing what I love doing and still following my dream. It's an amazing feeling and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I would also like to thank all of you who have joined me on this journey and followed my work, visited this blog or checked out some of my games. You all keep me motivated to keep going and I appreciate it so much. From encouraging comments to harsh critiques or just reaching out and saying hello. It all means the world to me. So thank you everyone. You are all awesome.

I have a lot planned for this year and a lot that I want to get done. I didn't release any new games in 2017 but that is because I have been working hard on multiple new game projects. I said this in my last blog post - Not one new game, but many new games.

Putting out lots of new games. That is exactly the plan. I am very excited for 2018, this will be a big one for me personally and I really do have several new games in the works for this year as well as a ton of other ideas that I would like to develop. If you are interested in getting a small glimpse of whats to come, check out my last blog post for more information as well as a ton of screenshots from many of my new and upcoming games.

Other then that, I really don't have much to say at this time. Just a quick recap of what I said in the previous post. Mostly, I just wanted to show a sign of life on the blog because I know sometimes there is a long time gap between blog updates and it could sometimes seem like I have abandoned game development. However, that's not the case at all. I'm still here and i'm just getting started.
I look forward to sharing updates and many new game releases down the road. There is a lot more to come. I wish you all an awesome 2018!

Samer Hills Progress?

Huh? What have we here? A cowboy uniform and another uniform that looks very very familiar...

Also, a farm setting?

Sorry. Not a very informative or content filled post. This is more of just a nod to confirm that I am still working on a game project. But yeah, overall I would say that I am making good progress on the project. I will have more updates and posts with more information soon. Okay bye!

Escape Ocean Zero Development

Hey everyone. I apologize for the delay in updates. My intention was to post a new update sooner than this but then I got busy with other things. However, I am picking things up again and I have been working on my next game project, which I call "Escape Ocean Zero". I announced Escape Ocean Zero earlier this month (May 12th to be exact) but really have not given much info about it. So today I want to talk a little bit about it and where its going with its development.

First, I just want to say that I have actually been making really good progress on my new game. I already have created a whole bunch of different 3d game assets/props, I have already finished some playable levels, controls are working, ammo system is in, main character is ready, gameplay mechanics working, implemented sound effects, etc. So I have built up major parts of the game already in a pretty decent amount of time I would say.

One of my biggest goals with this specific project is to create a fun playable complete game in very little time. My initial intention was to have the entire game finished by the end of this month but then I got distracted by other non -game dev things and now I am a little behind. However, now I am back and am rapidly developing this game. My new goal is to have this game complete by the end of June or earlier. I strongly believe that I will have the project complete by the deadline I have set for myself.

In a future post I plan to get into more about the actual game, what its about, maybe have a playable demo, etc. For now though, I can't really explain it because just like all my game projects, I change a lot of things throughout the development cycle. I try an idea I originally thought of and then later when I actually put it in the game I decided that maybe I don't want to do this and so I end up making changes and so on. Its a common process to go through in game dev. So for now I am still kind of forming the game until I get it in the shape that I am satisfied with. For now I am just going show you a bunch of screenshots from the games development I took while creating it. If you follow me on twitter or seen me on the unity forums you might have already seen these screenshots but for those of you who haven't here you go!

Just keep in mind that these are not screenshots from the final game, they are only development screenshots. Anyway, that's all for now. I will go into further detail about the game later on in upcoming posts. Expect updates here on the blog soon because once again I am rapidly developing this one. I have a really good feeling about this project and am really enjoying creating it.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned. More is on the way.

Heres an update!

Well everyone, I know its a bit late but here it is. My first blog post of 2014! This isn't going to be a really big blog post or anything but I just feel like I should post an update because it feels like I have been away for a while. So in case anyone was thinking that I abandoned this place, I am still here. I do apologize for the lack of updates though.

Anyway, in the last blog post I made in 2013 I was talking about my plans for this year (2014) and so on. I said that this year, I hope to release some of my greatest most polished games yet. It pretty much became my new years resolution and that is what I am sticking to doing. I mentioned that I planned on working on two different graphically styled games. A toon/cel shaded game and then a more realistic style game. I don't want to get into too much details and make this a really long winded blog post so for now I want to just give an update on the game project I have been working on since November 2013 and that is my toon game project.

I keep calling this my "secret game project" and I often post screenshots from development on the unity forums or on my twitter and that's pretty much it. I announced it in November and really did not give out much details or anything about it since other than a couple of screenshots and whatnot. I was actually planning on finally revealing details about the project sometime during last week but then somethings came up and I really haven't worked on it as much as I liked to.

However, I have been working on it little by little and its coming together really nicely. I do plan on finally revealing it sometime during this week and I will even try to get up a little short trailer or something. The reason I have been holding back so long to reveal the game is because I really wanted to complete working on a good portion of the game before showing anything, at least like half of it. And I am a solo developer so it's a lot of work but like I said, its coming together. In the end it just makes more sense to create a good portion of the game before officially announcing it because you never know your plans down the road. I say this from previous experiences.

So anyway, stay tuned because I do plan on finally revealing the game sometime this week. For now here is some development screenshots I posted earlier on my twitter and on the unity forums. You might have seen them already but here they are again in case you missed them. More soon!

Thanks for reading and see you later!
