Here's the plan... (Next Steam Greenlight campaign)

I have been making excellent progress on my next game project and I gotta say, I have never been so excited about anything I have ever made as much as I am for this new game. Anyway, I don't want to start rambling on about how much of a good job I did on my new project. That doesn't mean anything at all. Instead of going on and on about how great I think my game is - I need to actually focus more on completing it and getting it out there. Gotta tone down that ego. Sheesh!

Anyway, in all seriousness, yes I have been making excellent progress on the game however, it is no where near complete. It's not even close to where I want it to be yet. That is not necessarily a bad thing. I am taking my time with this one and polishing it up in every area as much as I can. Polish and quality is something I have been talking a lot about lately here on the blog and it is something that I am really stressing and pushing into the next game. I want the game to be as good as I possibly can make it.

As much as I am proud of my first Steam release Potato Thriller. This game will be nothing like Potato Thriller in anyway. Not even close. And I don't want it to be like Potato Thriller actually. As I said in an older blog post, I have grown and matured a lot since the release of Potato Thriller and really have learned and become more skilled as a game developer. I want this next project to show that. I am capable of more Potato Thriller type games.

I know I often say this, but I will try to say this in the least braggiest way as possible - This is going to be the most polished thing I have ever worked on. Damn! that still came across as egotistical... Honestly though, I am just really excited about the work I have put into this project and I keep trying to show that in the blog updates but it comes across as some looser indie developer who is really full of himself. But it really is not my intention to come across like that.

Next game has dev's name in the title... Say's he doesn't want to
come off as egotistical...

The reason I want to share this next game so bad is because when I originally released Potato Thriller, sure it had some fans but, it also had a lot of other people who criticized it harshly.
And I have said this before, but I always accept all forms of criticism. I have nothing against negative criticism at all. I actually even agree with most of the criticism I got over Potato Thriller and this is really one of the main reasons as to why I am trying to improve and show that with my next game. I feel like I kind of got this image as some kind of "hack dev" or some cheap indie dev who doesn't care about the quality of their games and just puts stuff out to make a quick buck. That is not me at all. I care so much about the quality that goes into my games. Hopefully I can do that with my next game. And I am really excited to get it out there and share it with the world. I love video games so much and respect them as the wonderful art form that they are. I'm very passionate about games. It's cheesy I know.

WOOOOW character has different uniforms built in!

This game will definitely be a 2017 release. But hopefully early 2017. I had originally planned on launching the Greenlight campaign on Steam for this game by the middle of the month if I reached a certain point in the games development. Unfortunately that won't be happening. So here's the plan (for now) - I am not that far off from hitting that "certain point" in the games development. What I want to do is get more done. My goal is to try launching the Steam Greenlight campaign by the end of this month and then hopefully finish and release the game early 2017. No promises just yet. Might not happen. But that is what I am aiming for and working hard to stay on my schedule. In the meantime there will probably be less blog post and updates but I will come back on here and share more whenever I get a chance to do so! If I launch my Greenlight campaign before the end of this month then I will definitely post an update here on the blog.

Until then, this might be the final post of 2016. If it is, I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful holiday break. Spend time with your families, play some video games! See you in 2017!

Things are gonna get weird...

Im back. Updates. Making a new weird game + future plans

Hey everyone. I am back and have a lot of cool stuff to talk about. I'll just cut right into everything without rambling on and on. The character you see above is a new character I recently created. He has a ponytail. I named him "Ponytail". I am experimenting around and plan on using him for my next game. What kind of game will it be? I don't know yet. I never plan any of my games. I always just create stuff randomly and throw that stuff into the unity engine and eventually come up with a game. Maybe that is why my games end up turning out so weird. *cough* Potato Thriller *cough*

Anyway, I created ponytail, I threw him into the unity engine and made a small prototype demo.

Again, just messing around at the moment with no real game design plan.
Hey, remember those donkey characters I made a while back and also showed off a working prototype demo of? You know, these donkeys ?
Well guess what, they are back! See!

I will probably make the donkeys and ponytail part of the same game instead of making two separate games. Who knows, maybe down the road I will also make a separate game for each character. But lets focus on whatever this project is going to turn out to be first.

Here is another screenshot from the new demo. If you remember, the coffin models here are the same ones I made a while back when I announced that I was making a cartoony game about a vampire and garlic. Do you remember? You know this one over here. Yup, I posted an update that day, said I was making some game featuring that vampire character and then vanished. I haven't updated the blog since. What happened to the vampire game? I don't know. I might eventually go back to it. But for now, my interest has shifted to making a game featuring my new ponytail character.

If you guys haven't noticed by now, I make a lot of 3d characters and 3d models in general. I have so much 3d stuff I create, esp characters and then end up not using. I literally could make dozens of new games with all the 3d models I create on a daily basis. But that just isn't really my development style. I like to work on something until it feels right to me. Until it feels like it came from me. Until it feels like it has that "Snowconesolid" type feeling to it. Not sure if this makes sense to anyone. But it does to me. I can't really explain it.

Anyway, I will probably end up making some kind of new horror game with my new characters and the donkey characters. I don't know yet. We will see how things go. But I am definitely in the mood for developing something new. I want to post a new "Making Of.." for my Ponytail character later on the blog. Which I will get to maybe later today or tomorrow.

Other Updates:

I also plan on posting a new video update soon. Maybe a new "Cookin Games" episode over on my channel showing off the new prototype demo in action and just to kind of reconnect with everyone who follows this blog and my youtube channel. So keep an eye out for that here on my channel

I also kind of feel like adding new content on my youtube channel. Stuff that is not really like developer updates or anything. I want to expand and get into new stuff. Not just game making all the time. Like I said earlier, I have a ton of unused 3d characters and props. I also have so much of my older 3d stuff from other projects that I could reuse. I don't know for sure yet, but maybe I will start doing animated short series and posting those to my youtube channel as well? We will see. It depends on if I get the time. So I am not making any promises yet.

Final piece of news. I haven't really said anything about this until now and I am not sure how much I can say about it so I won't get into too much detail until later on. But I finally signed with a publisher. I signed my previous game "Potato Thriller" with a publisher and they have a major update planned for it and everything so I am eventually going to go back and work on the update for PT and go live with it on Steam eventually. That is all I will say for now. I'll keep posting more updates here on the blog though.

Anyway, I have been keeping busy. I have a lot of new stuff that I am really looking forward to get working on and I can't share with all of you. Thanks everyone once again for all the support and stay awesome. More soon!

Potato Thriller GREENLIT! Thank you everyone!

Hey everyone, I know this is kind of late, I meant to get this post out earlier. Anyway, the other day was another regular day for me until I checked my email sometime in the afternoon. First thing I saw was an email from the steam store followed by "Congratulations, Potato Thriller..." then the email preview cuts off. Before I opened the full email I had a huge smile on my face and a really good feeling about what the email was about. I opened the full email and there it was. A message congratulating me saying that my game "Potato Thriller" has been greenlit on steam!

I couldn't believe it. It felt as if the email came out of nowhere. I wasn't expecting my game to just get greenlit on steam so suddenly. It was such a surprise to me because I have read numerous stories of indie game developers submitting their games to steam and waiting years to get greenlit.  I originally posted my game to steam on March 6th (on my birthday) and then two months later (May 27th) the game gets greenlit. Only two months! Its crazy. To be honest, somewhere in those two months came a point where I even lost hope that my game would ever make it on steam. But now I am sitting in front of my computer staring at the steam page with the satisfying green banner that says "This game has been Greenlit by the Community"

"The Community", all of you guys on steam. You voted for it. You made this happen. For that, I am very  thankful. I truly appreciate all of the support you guys have given the game. Thank you for taking the time to come in and check it out. Thank you for being interested in my game and leaving comments.  You are all awesome. I honestly can't thank you all enough.

I have been making games for years now but "Potato Thriller" is the very first game that I have submitted to Steam and having a game available on Steam is a dream come true for small time indie developers such as myself. As a game developer this is a very big milestone for me.

I honestly appreciate all the support  that you guys have given me. Thank you for making this possible.

More updates coming very soon.

Estimated release date? This Month.

Hello everyone. Wanted to post a quick update for the game. I am currently finalizing "Potato Thriller"  Putting the last bits together and everything and then doing a quick polish job. Currently, I am aiming on finishing and having the entire game released before the end of this month.

As of this post, my game hasn't even been posted to Steam Greenlight for a full month. You might be thinking "He just recently posted this and now he is saying that it is almost complete?".

Actually, I have been working on this game since October 2015. So it has been a couple months. Although it is a pretty silly, random game horror game that many people might not take seriously - I did actually put in a lot of work into creating this. This isn't a game that I just did overnight. Anyway, I wanted to wait until I had just the right amount completed before I posted it to Steam.

I posted this game to Steam Greenlight on March 6th (my birthday). Obviously it still did not get greenlit. Of course I wasn't expecting it to get greenlit in one month. This is my first time posting something to steam and I did read prior that it could take a while for games to get greenlit on steam and in some cases even years. I read about this one developer who said that after about 4 or so years, he finally was informed that his game was greenlit and ready to get published on Steam. And I get it. I understand that the process can take a while. New games are posted to Steam daily. Deciding what gets Greenlit and what does not is probably a very time consuming process.

Anyway, since I am nearly complete with this project, my goal is to have the entire game finished and released before the end of this month. No estimated release date yet but, definitely sometime before the end of March. Greenlit on Steam or not. I will have this game finished and released real soon. While we wait for the Greenlight on Steam, I will have the game available (once completed) on sites like itch.io and maybe a couple others. I'll get more into this later on when I am preparing for release.

Anyway, this is all for now. Thanks for reading. Thank you for those of you who have voted for the game so far on Steam and more updates coming soon. Real soon. Peace.

If interested (and this will probably be the last time I post this link) go vote for the game on steam over here:

Potato Thriller Final Trailer

Hey everyone.  First of all, I wanna say thanks to all those who voted for "Potato Thriller" on steam so far. Thank you all for your support.

The trailer I had up on the potato thriller STEAM  page is pretty outdated. I made that trailer when the game was still early in development. Now that so much as changed and so many new things have been added to the game I thought it would be a good idea to create an updated game trailer to give a little preview of what can be expected in the final game.

Here is the newest and final trailer for "Potato Thriller" Enjoy!

If you are interested in silly horror games and want to see this game become available on STEAM then please go hit that YES button and help it get the GREENLIGHT over here:

Thanks once again for the support everyone. More updates coming soon.

I am still working on the game and need more time to finish it. My goal is to finish the entire game by the end of the month. In the mean time, please go check out the game on Steam over here:

Lana The Lemon

Everyone. This is Lana the Lemon. My most recent 3d character and probably one of my personal favorites yet. I have not updated the artwork section here on my blog in a while. As a matter of fact that section is kind of outdated now as I have created many new characters and 3d stuff over time and have greatly improved. I just never felt like spending much time on updating that section as often anymore. Maybe I will eventually get around to that.

Anyway, I felt the need to post about this new character because of how weird it turned out. Something about this character that is very unique and completely different from any other character I have ever made. Not trying to brag about my work, I just really like this character.

Lana the Lemon will also be a new character in my upcoming horror game "Potato Thriller". Expect to encounter this hideous looking creature/lemon/beast soon.

The above image is the final model. But here is a quick breakdown of the model.

Modeling the character was easy. The challenging part was doing the texture work. I also ran into some issues with the rig for the character.

Ambient Occlusion:

Detail Texturing/ Normal Map: (The eye lashes look terrible here)

More updates soon. Thanks for reading.

Potato Thriller - February Update

Okay. Quick brief update time. I have been busy lately and haven't really been able to put a lot of time into my upcoming horror game "Potato Thriller". The game that I have been randomly working on since October. Like I said in previous blog posts - I work on this game on and off.  I'm not sure why. It is just a really silly random game. I could probably waste my time working on something decent.

I haven't been really active here on the blog (not a surprise) or on my twitter so I wanted to get out at least one blog update this month. Potato Thriller is in its final stages. I think its about time I just finish this project already and move on. I'm starting to not like working on this anymore. Like I said earlier, it is a really weird random game. I did try to tie in some kind of storyline to make sense of everything in the game. It's kind of complicated but should all make sense by the end.

Anyway, the plan is to at least have Potato Thriller posted up on Steam by the next time I post an update here on the blog.

More updates soon.

That is Potato Man... Potato Thriller January Update

So many new features and changes in my upcoming game "Potato Thriller" yet so few updates here on the blog! As always, I will start today's blog post off the same way I usually tend to start off my blog posts and that is often by me apologizing for the lack of updates. Yes. Sorry about the lack of updates here on the blog. I am definitely not updating as often as I want to.

I have been working on my new game "Potato Thriller" almost on a daily basis in my free time whenever I get a chance to do so. It is getting kind of ridiculous. This originally started out as a small game back in October. The game has since of course became a lot bigger now with more levels, more features, and an actual storyline. I even recently added a simple auto save feature to the game because it would just be annoying to have the player restart all the way from the start each time they booted up the game. A save feature. It sounds like a feature that is just suppose to be in the game regardless. Like that is just a feature that you should always have in any game. The reason I am making it sound like a big deal is because like I said earlier, this game originally started out as a really simple, short, one level game that could be completed in maybe ten minuets or so. A save feature was never needed. Now since the game has grown to be much bigger it definitely is a necessary feature.

Anyway, I don't want to ramble too much in this blog post. This blog post is just a small update to let everyone know that I am still working on Potato Thriller. I wanted to do a vlog earlier but never got around to that. I seriously need to start doing more youtube updates. I want to. I will try to get a video update out later on.

Quick Rundown of things:
Potato Thriller has expanded so much since my last blog post. It will probably be my biggest game yet (in terms of size, amount of levels, etc) I have decided that I will post this up later on to Steam and try to get it greenlit. I will do this probably sometime before the end of this month. Hopefully sometime next week? That is the deadline I will try to shoot for. Still no exact estimated finish date for Potato Thriller as there is still so many other things I am currently adding to it and still want to add to it. There is a lot to this game. I don't want it to be just another unity first person game where you walk around with a flashlight and wait for a jumpscare to happen. Although the game seems like it is very weird (and it is turning out to be a very strange game) I am trying to do more with it.

That is Potato Man
The character in the screenshot posted above in this blog post is Potato man by the way. I never showed potato man before. Potato man is one of the main villains in Potato Thriller that you will encounter throughout  Potato Thriller.

There is nothing to see?
I have been posting about this game for a while now here on the blog. I have pages for it set up over at indiedb and gamejolt. I am now even saying that I want to put it up on steam later on. However, very little is known about this game. I have shared very little information. I only have a few screenshots up and about a 1 minuet trailer which also barley shows anything. I am trying to show as little as possible for this game. The current screenshots and trailer are really almost nothing from the actual game.

Thanks for reading. More updates coming soon.

Expanding PT. First game for 2016. Steam?

Been working on finishing up my upcoming horror game "Potato Thriller". A game I have been talking about for a while now here on the blog. A game I have been developing on and off in my free time since October. In my previous blog posts and I think in my YouTube vlog update I kept saying that I planned on having this game out for sure before the end of this year. Before the end of 2015.

As you can see by the title of this post. That is going to change.

I guess this is both a bad thing and a good thing. (More like a who cares thing actually). Anyway, as I continue to develop this game and wrap things up, I feel like this game has more potential then what it started off as. I actually want to continue to expand this game and add more to it as well and polish it up more until I am satisfied with it. So I just wanted to post this update to say that I will not have Potato Thriller finished and released by the end of 2015 like I promised. Instead, this will be my first game release for 2016. Early 2016. I have actually already added a lot more new things to Potato Thriller since my last blog update. More updates coming soon.

     Steam?
For a while now I have been planning on getting into steam as a developer. I actually recently just got a steam account. To be honest, I was never much of a pc gamer but mostly a console gamer. But there are a lot of great games that are pc only, especially indie games. Steam is a very popular platform obviously and they have a lot of cool stuff on there. I feel like I am missing out sometimes. So as I just said, I have finally got my own steam account. I recently purchased Resident Evil Revilations 2 on there. Unfortunately my laptop is kinda weak sauce and could not run it all that good. Anyway, back on topic. I was thinking of maybe putting "Potato Thriller" up on steam and trying to get it greenlit? I don't really know yet. Do you guys want to see it up on steam maybe? I'm kinda nervous actually about this decision since I don't really know how people will react towards Potato Thriller. It's a pretty weird game even for my standards. I don't know yet. I think I will take a chance, throw it on steam and see how things go. If it gets geenlit awesome. If not, then its not the end of the world. More updates on this later on I guess.

Youtube Updates?
As for my YouTube channel, I do want to continue to be more active there (even though I only put up 1 vlog update since my last blog post) I have been busy with my real life job and working on Potato Thriller on the side. A person can only do so much in a day. I actually, did record a new vlog update almost a week ago. I never got to editing that. I prob will not get that one out now anyway. I had a new vlog about my game but things have changed since then. So, I will prob record a different updated vlog later on. Also, like I said previously. I want to start doing lets plays of some indie games. I will definitely get into that. I recorded my first lets play not to long ago. I need to get that edited and then I should have it up soon on my channel.

Anyway, just wanted to post this blog update. Talk about whats going on. This might be my last blog post for 2015. Maybe. I don't know. Maybe not. I don't know about a lot of things yet. If it is, I hope everyone has a happy new year and I will see you in 2016! :D

More coming soon! Stay tuna!

Heres that YouTube update I promised :)

I have been working hard over the past couple days cleaning up my YouTube channel. Getting it more organized and making it look cool. I updated almost everything on my channel and am happy with how much I have changed with it.

My new YouTube icon I designed:

"You see this? Diamond Dogs... Our new home..." -MGSV

Randomly decided to make a Metal Gear Solid V reference just now for some reason. But that is how I felt when I was re-designing my YouTube stuff, getting it more organized and to look more like how I want it to look. Its a great feeling actually. :D

And the my new YouTube Banner. I think I spent too much time working on this one. But very happy with the results.

Check out and Subscribe to my updated fancy pants YouTube channel today!

It's a really exciting time and I am really happy. I really look forward to sharing my YouTube adventures and posting a bunch of new content. I have so much planned. More videos and blog updates will be coming soon. More information and a trailer for my new horror game coming up later in the coming days.  Thank you everybody once again for staying with me and checking out all my stuff over the past couple years. It means so much to me. I really enjoy creating and sharing new content with everyone. :)

More updates coming soon! Thanks for reading.

Surprise game very soon (P.T. Remake?) and 2016 plans.

Just wanted to post a quick update about this secret horror game project I have been putting together over the past couple weeks in my free time.  In a previous blog post I said that I was pretty much working on P.T. Or at least my very own version of P.T. Like I said earlier, I have been a huge fan of the Silent Hills project ever since the P.T. demo came out and was really bummed when I heard that it got canceled. The P.T. demo was even removed from the PS store as many of you probably know. It has been some time since all of this has happened. By now i'm sure that a lot of people in the gaming world have probably even forgotton about the whole Silent Hills thing. P.T was such an impressive demo because it was something that really stood out from other modern day horror games. What I mean by that is, it was actually scary. I love horror games, but I haven't actually felt frightened by a horror game in a while. P.T was different. The atmosphere and everything was just so well done. The jump-scare got me more than once and it was just an actual awesome experience overall. I will talk more about this later on.

Staying on topic. I had so much inspiration from the P.T. demo. It was a simple first person game but so perfectly executed. I have been working on my own P.T. since October. It's kind of like a remake but definitely in my own way. It's also different in a lot of ways. But yes, this game I have been working on (on and off whenever I had a chance too) is very much influenced and inspired by the P.T demo. I am making this game in honor of the Silent Hills P.T demo.

I have gone through so many revisions for my own version of P.T (which I want to discuss later on maybe in a video?) But  I am finally at a point in the games development where I feel satisfied with it, the game feels right, plays right and feels like P.T. This is also definitely an interesting game for me to make and different from the other games I created. I just wanted to say in todays blog post that I am almost finished and plan on releasing my new game very very soon. Probably within the next few days or so. :)

Other things...
Anyway, I wanna wrap things up for today. I will have more updates real soon. I said a while back in another post that I wanted to start doing video updates. Maybe I will get to this tomorrow. But I want to have a video up soon kind of discussing more about my P.T game, where this blog is going, where I am going with my indie games career (well hobby I guess, not really a career). I also want to start to get more into youtube. I don't just want to make indie games anymore. I want to expand. I kind of want to give this blog and my games a face, a more human side. I want to interact more through youtube and the blog. I want to update on a more daily basis. As I said, I plan on doing video updates over some stuff i'm working on, maybe do some tutorials for unity and blender3d, answer questions and even do a couple of my own lets play videos. Cover some other indie games other small time devs like me have made. I want to help out the indie scene more and be more active.

A lot of new things planned going into 2016. I'm very excited as always. Again I will cover this more in depth later on. I might have my first "real" youtube video out covering my P.T game and the future of all of this "Snowconesolid Productions" stuff. I want to thank all the readers and players out there who visit my blog and check out my stuff. It means a lot to me. As always, stay tuned. More updates coming real soon. Happy holidays everybody. Peace.
