Release: "The Zelda Within"

At the beginning of April I posted about a Zelda themed game jam which is being held over at GameJolt. I also said that I would be participating in the contest. After a month of development I have created a full out 3D horror/mystery/adventure game called "The Zelda Within". It has been an awesome and productive month! This turned out to be a big project to create in a month and today (May 1st, 2015) is the final day for the gamejam. Luckily, I managed to finish on time and release the game with just a few more hours to spare. Everyone, I give you:

Summery:

Join detective Lulu Pinkhair as you enter the strange twisted trippy dimension hidden in the mysterious motel known as "The Stock Pot Inn".  When Inn guests suddenly start disappearing, it's up to Lulu to uncover whats going on. Adventure through a mysterious non-sense world, encounter familiar characters and re-visit classic scenes in this adventure/horror/mystery thriller game!
"The Zelda Within" will leave you confused, cold, hungry and possibly rage quitting. Can you handle what lies within the "Inn"?

Screen Shots:

This jam was by far my favorite gamejam I have ever participated in and I had so much fun creating "The Zelda Within". I have made a lot of weird games in the past. But I think this project takes the "wtf is this?" title now.

This game is full of many game references not just from "The Legend Of Zelda" series, but other games as well. If you haven't guessed it from the game title, "The Zelda Within" is heavily inspired by the popular horror game "The Evil Within". This game is full of unexpected surprises....

Can you name all of the game references?

Zelda fans, The Evil Within fans and people who play video games in general, I hope you enjoy

That's all the news I have for now. Thanks for reading. 2015 is turning out to be an awesome year!

Hide-n-Seek Winter Now On Desura!

Hello everyone. Just posting to say that my recent toon adventure game "Hide-n-Seek Winter" is now available to play on Desura! The game is part of the "Freedom Friday's" promotion Desura has going on. The game of course will always be a free to play game even after today.

If you use Desura and haven't played "Hide-n-Seek Winter" yet, you can check it out over here on the Desura Website:

Desura (Link to Game)

I hope you give it a try and enjoy the game!

Thanks Everyone!
Off topic, this is a personal achievement for me and the "indie game dev" thing I have going on because this is my first game that gets accepted and published on Desura. So I am very happy to say that "Hide-n-Seek Winter" was a big step up compared to my other game titles and I look forward to continue making games and sharing them with everyone to play.

I want to say thank you to everyone who has been supporting me and following my games, artwork, dev blog and so on. I appreciate it. The people playing my games, giving me feedback and advice is what keeps me motivated to continue making games.

With all that said I think this might be the final update I post for "Hide-n-Seek Winter". It is time for me to move onto my next game projects. I can't wait to share what titles I have planned next!

Thanks once again and more projects soon!

"Hide-n-Seek Winter" is finally finished, Releases tomorrow!

Wow, I can't believe we are already in March! Sorry for the lack of updates here. There was nothing really else for me to show, or I guess I didn't really want to show any more screens or anything because I have been spending the rest of time since my last post finishing up the game, adding a little extra polish, working out some features I forgot to add like a save system, etc.

So I haven't updated in a couple days but I have been working on it non-stop. Or whenever I had a chance to.

As you might know from my previous updates, I originally planned on releasing this game early February and then that eventually led to releasing it at the end of February, and I promised to release it before the end of February. But as usual, things never go as planned. I had run into some issues, I needed to add some extra features and I needed to work on the final game. Also, I haven't had as much free time to work on this project for the past couple days because of life and other non game dev stuff. So I decided I needed a little extra time, just a little, to really finalize my game because there is no point in releasing a broken or unfinished game right?

Anyway, I have good news. Finally, after taking the extra time I needed, I finally finished the game. It feels great! This has been probably my biggest and most serious game project yet and I ran into a lot of frustration while building it, for the most part it was smooth though. But finally, its done and I feel really good about it.

you see? Preparing the final builds as we speak. :)

So its done, when are you going to release it?

Actually in a couple of hours. I will release the game March 6th (Tomorrow) sometime in the afternoon or so. Like my previous projects, I am releasing this 100% free. It will be available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Why don't you just release it now if its done?

I'm going to do some final test to make sure everything is working right, (even though I know it is since I tested so many times in frustration) but I have to double check. Also, the main reason I decided to release it tomorrow is because tomorrow is also my birthday (going to be 21, starting to feel old mold). So I want to give you guys a present on my birthday. :)

Ok thats all I have for now. I am really excited and looking forward to finally releasing my new toon game. I will probably post a couple of updates frequently with other stuff up until I release it tomorrow. So stay tuned!

(In case you are wondering, yes this is the update I just posted in my works in progress thread on the unity forums here: Link) So I copied and pasted my own update. But this is an important update for my game so I decided to post here on the blog as well.

I am really looking forward to releasing my game tomorrow! see you soon!

Forest Soup Version 2 released! Bug Fixes

Hello again! Hope everybody had a great Halloween last night.
So yesterday was my big release day for my latest horror game project "Forest Soup" and everything was going good until people actually played the game. It turns out that there was a very annoying bug that made the players constantly trip and fall on their faces over and over again. This made the entire game nearly unplayable and also very un-enjoyable.

The tripping is something that I actually left in the game purposefully at first because I thought it would be funny to have the player trip and fall down randomly every once in a while when they played through the game. And when I was testing the game the character did not trip as frequently as he did in the final game. He would trip occasionally every once in a while. In the final game however it seems like there was a bug that was triggering the player to trip all the time and this made the game very annoying and just not playable.

So anyway, I am here to fix that issue. The tripping was my fault and I would of left it out of the game if I knew it was going to cause all these issues.

After getting feedback and learning what a pain this bug was I went back in and fixed it and now there is no more tripping. So everyone I bring you Forest Soup Version 2 which is 100% tripping free. So if you have already downloaded the game and tried playing it and experienced this issue I hope you give my game another chance and try out the improved version. :)

Forest Soup - Mac - V2

Forest Soup - Linux - V2

+New improved camera for skydiving level so its easier to see whats below you and where to go.

Once again sorry for the bugs in the previous release and I hope you find this new fixed version to be more enjoyable. Thank you for your time.

Note:
I have not tested the Mac or Linux versions of the game so I am unaware of how those will run. If you run into any problems with those versions please let me know. Game Summery:
"Forest Soup" is a horror game about a boy named Oliver OliveTree and his magical flying pet creature named Fogo. Oliver and Fogo become hungry as the day nears its end. The two characters decide to make forest soup for dinner, a legendary soup that has a taste that is out of this world. The two eventually realize that they do not have the ingredients to make this soup. Fogo tells Oliver that all the ingredients can be found at a place called "Black Cloud Island". Fogo takes Oliver to the entrance of the island where the game begins. Take the role of Oliver OliveTree and skydive down below to this mysterious place called "Black Cloud Island" in search of the ingredients for the so called Forest Soup.
